The Faculty of Biology UGM has a long history with Porok Beach which is located in Kemadang Village, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta – Indonesia. Since several decades ago, the UGM Faculty of Biology has collaborated with the community for research and community service activities. The beaches in the Gunung Kidul area, including Porok Beach, have Sultan Ground (SG).
Porok Beach is a base for research projects related to marine biology, coastal ecology and environmental conservation. Researchers, communities, and local governments work together to collect data, conduct field observations, and develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges around the coast.
Through ongoing research efforts, Porok Beach contributes significantly to the understanding of coastal biodiversity and provides the basis for sustainable conservation policies. This research station is not only a scientific center, but also a symbol of the Faculty of Biology UGM commitment to preserving the coastal environment for future generations.
